Salsa - club's Dance
Posted on April 24th, 2010 by Sergey Muretov
Simply put, it is the most popular Latin street dance. With Cuban and
Puerto Rican roots salsa evolved in New York in the 1960s and has grown into one
of the most popular forms of social dancing today.
"Salsa" - a Spanish word that literally means "sauce". The hot, spicy, exotic
fragrance with Latin American dance salsa justifies its name. Around the world,
people tend to nightclubs, to dissolve into the music, movement, and sensations
- in the Salsa.
Account and the size
Style: Club Latina
Music size: 4 / 4
Rate: 160 - 220 beats per minute
Score: Quick-Quick-Slow
Step-Step-Step-Tap
Music: medium and fast temp.
Salsa Music very rhythmic and executed large ensembles with a
full Latin percussion, piano, horns, and often alone, and a group of vocalists.
Movement Work stops:
Typically, the steps in all directions makes first dropping to
the floor "pad" of foot (forefoot), and then, after the final transfer of
weight, lowered to the floor heel.
Movement of the hips:
The "Salsa" hip's work are usually free and barely noticeable,
especially for men. Weight is usually transferred to the "soft" (slightly bent)
knee.
Hand Job:
Position of the hands, mainly on or just above the waistline.
Movement of hands should always be the natural result of body
movements. If "diligently" to work with your hands or "diligently" to keep the
frame, it looks like a deliberate and contrived. Let your hands always
supplement the movement of your body.
Main position in Salsa is Close Latin Dance
position. Body weight is located on the "balls" (on the front of the
foot). As with other club dances, stand "Salsa" very compact, the distance
between partners is insignificant.
Lady's right hand and left hand partner form a "lock" on top.
The left hand partner without the weight rests on the right hand partner. It
should be noted that stand in the "Salsa" is much free than in the other club
dances, which gives greater freedom of movement of hands.
Another most popular club dance - Bachata. This dance is more slowly
than Salsa ,easy and funny..

"I first attended Chance Dance Centre in April of 2008. Sergey was going to teach me how to ballroom dance, I had never dance before! I enjoy the fact my lessons are private and that there is not audience until I am ready for one...
I continue to learn and I enjoy DANCING and although sometimes frusterated with the lessons being taught to me decide to keep dancing because the instructors help me by encouraging me and I still have fun dancing and I feel like I have been taught a lot. In just 8-9 months I have participated in 2 events: The grand Opening and an Open House. I've enjoyed the time that I've spent and plan to continue taking lessons to reach my full potential.
Both Sergey and Renata are very helpful in helping me reach my goals and if I don't understand something they help me to the best of their ability and have always been very helpful."
